Bio
Toni Watson, born Antonia Lucille Watson, grew up in London, England. Her father was a professor of Geography- but was fired when he attempted to start rallies for pro-alien belief. He claimed to any reporter that would listen that his wife was lost to terrestrials, and he would not rest until he found her- or the alien- again. (Six years post Toni's birth, Ian and Rebecca, her parents, had gone out for a walk one evening, leaving her with her nanny and close friend, Tasha. This was when Ian caught his first glimpse of alien-life. What the creature did to Ian is unknown, but the only obviousness of the situation, was that it kidnapped her mother- thus leading Ian into his maniac pursuit after the alien.) That was when Ian, unbeknowst to Toni, was inducted into Torchwood. (She finally learned of his official job at Torchwood One after his death.) Toni was left in Tasha's care, and learned this word when she overheard her and Ian speaking of it in his private quarters. Although remembering it clearly, Toni decided it was best not to ask her father about it, and remained with her nose in a book. As a child, Toni was captivated by her father's sudden knowledge of aliens and otherworldly creatures. He claimed there were a few things he could never tell her, but she enjoyed the stories he could. She was also seemingly awkward and cold-hearted towards the kids her age, and they thought her weird for believing in the things she did. Growing up, she remained top of her class, and became more and more infatuated with the secret that was her father's job. When she finally left school, she decided that she would figure out why it was her father was never around, and what exactly Torchwood was, on her own. During her time at school, she had befriended a fellow "genius". (Norton Malone, who came in second of her class, and was also voted 'Most Dashing', alongside head boy.). Norton had, truly, been terrible at his schoolwork. In order to get the grades he did (and oblivious to the professors' knowledge), he would hack into the school's computer system and tweak the set-up to his liking, all the while deleting his tracks. When she confronted him on his secret (She had caught him in the act when they were 16, and later on when 17), she promised she would keep it, if he taught her everything there was to know about hacking into all things big and small. Norton would come over each day for two years, claiming that he was aiding Toni in "uni" purposes. But, in truth, they were working on breaking through the barrier of Torchwood One's database. One month later, Toni and Norton were apprehended by Torchwood One security, and brought to Yvonne Hartman, the head of Torchwood One at the time. She commended them on their achievement, (They were one level away from retrieving vital information from the research section of Torchwood One's computers.) but their efforts would be useful only if they joined the Institute. If they were to resist, they would be thrown into a mental institute. (Although Yvonne worded it differently, it was apparent that their skills would be much too dangerous elsewhere.) Toni agreed, but Norton wanted no part of the conspiracy. Norton was immediately sent away, and Toni was given the run-through of her new job. She was to be working side-by-side with ten other employees that specialized in computers. They were to teach her everything they could, and they were to teach her quickly. Yvonne was well aware that Toni would be useful, and could learn as quickly as they talked.[1] Toni worked for Torchwood One for six years. In those six years, she lost her father (he was highly trained in the weapons and tracking field and had finally taken time, and weaponry of his own, to find his alien.), was promoted to the top of her quarter, and was transferred to her own precinct via Torchwood Four. Upon arriving, she was appointed the position of leader of Torchwood Four. After receiving word of The Battle of Canary Wharf, Toni and the other employees decided on keeping Four under wraps. Her team helped disclose the information from all sources, and the area suddenly "disappeared" from the knowledge of all Torchwood personnel. Toni works and leads five other members that relocated with her during the promotion, and remains in Los Angeles, California, where she hopes to continue the work of te Institute- but with a much more conspicuous upperhand. [1]- After Toni completed her training, she went through numerous other basic and common areas, passing each with flying colours. Out of the areas we've learned of in the canon, medical training has been the only field Toni dislikes, and passed by the skin of her teeth. | Coming Soon. |
